Scandic Hotels

The assignment

We often get invited to join Scandic when they build new hotels or brush up on older ones. In this example, they asked us for a premium sound solution in their most essential spaces: lobby, bar, restaurant, wine cellar, gym/spa, etc. Pretty much everywhere except conference rooms and where guests sleep.

This beautiful hotel is located right next to the famous Holmenkollen ski jump and arena. It offers a panoramic view of Oslo city center, the fjord, and surrounding forests. We know that for this location to get the right look and feel, sound quality and even a speaker's visual appearance can make or break the vibe. These demands make this job very much in our ballpark, and we get to give these rooms just what they need.

The solution

We knew this wouldn't be straightforward because the building is partially old and has a history and architecture. Working together with the architect and project lead every step of the way was necessary to find the best solutions where practicality, aesthetics, and old walls clashed.

The lobby is quite a large space with multiple stories, but it was handled well by great speakers from Bowers & Wilkins, combined with our amp's built-in DSP and delay, which kept everything sounding defined no matter where you were.

We integrated the EAS-CP-MTX in the bar for Bluetooth support and an easy-to-use interface for the tending staff. The same solution ended up in the gym, which will be available to guests wanting their own pumping beats working out.

Our installers faced their greatest challenges in the wine cellar, with its stone walls and antique wooden ceilings. Great care was taken not to harm either the building or the visuals, as patrons want an authentic experience. One cable in the wrong place immediately becomes an eyesore.

Benefits
